Is it me or do these guys make the most awesome animation. I love the mix of cg with actual 2d.
Let us take a look and appreciate a master.

You know if you do make an anime…one important thing to consider is the music. How many people can forget the themes to shows like SAO, One-Punch Man and one of the biggest Neon Genesis. I’ve lived in Japan and A Cruel Angels Thesis is on the Karaoke list. To be honest I miss a ton of old school soundtracks we used to get in the 80s and 90s. It has been quite some time since we’ve seen a real soundtrack. I guess that is why Guardians of the Galaxy was so refreshing.
So when making your anime…don’t forget….you need a good theme song.
To be honest if I am going to make an anime on a lower budget….I have to use CG. It just will not work be a no-man to low-man team and do this all by hand. CG is where I personally feel I need to go to bring speed and quality.
How forgiving are you of 3d anime if it has a good story?
If you can’t draw and want to design cool characters I thought you’d guys be interested in seeing this book. It is awesome.
There is always this “nerd” argument that Anime made outside of Japan is not really anime. There are many folks who would never give a show a second look if it wasn’t made in Japan.
What do you think?
Well to be honest I think it is somewhere in the middle. There are obvious cultural aspects that are part of anime specifically in those slice of life type shows but when you start getting into fantasy and scifi I think the line is blurred and really doesn’t matter.
To be technical about it….most anime is made in Korea. So technically it ain’t anime either IF your definition is that it must be made in Japan. And if you notice recently China is coming in producing its own anime.
Things are changing. To all you nerdy guys who are the “actually” guys/gals. Give it up and get with the times. :)
Anime is anime wherever it is made.
And remember at the end of the day Anime was inspired by American culture.
I’ve been following the career of this guy for some time. Hopefully this talk will inspire you.
He is famous for Boondocks and his style used on various other shows. Currently he has his on property Canon Busters coming to NETFLIX.
Terrence Walker is a great inspiration for me and he is putting out his training videos at a good, cheap price.
If you are making your own ahime RWBY to me seems like the one man standard you can reach. It gives me a bar to reach. After all this is a popular online anime. I would love to be this popular. So it is good to take a look at some criticism behind this internet animation. This will give you some do’s and not to do’s. So maybe you can make something even better.
I thought this was a great tutorial. It shows how to use 3d reference to make an actual 2d animation. If you have a hard time drawing this might be the way to do things if you want to do 2d.
Here is if you want to do more manga still frame comics
I found this great interview with an animator who makes a living creating animation. I’m sure we would all like to do that.
Here is a great interview.
