I wanted to share that Studioartfx.com is back with a new format and it is looking good.   http://www.studioartfx.com/

I have been a fan of Terrence for many years and he is one of my biggest inspirations in making your own anime.  He proved what one man can do and even do quickly.   I hope to see more and more articles from him and glean some new stuff from him in my own endeavors.

If you want to learn how to make your own anime this is the guy to watch.

You cannot draw but want to make a manga or anime?

Well why not try doing things the old fashioned way?  By tracing.   What tracing?  That is horrible!   Why would I trace someone elses work?

You don’t have to do that silly.  You can trace using references you create.   There are many programs you could use to setup a shot and then trace it.

You can make your own characters in 3d and then use them to trace.

Here is an example of creating your own characters.

Yeah I know this is not the best animation you will find but break it down and think of the possibilites.

This man made a feature length movie in 5 months.    Imagine taking a year, sprucing up the models and modeling.  It is quite possible to make something awesome in less than a year.

Watch and learn.

Here is another one of those videos combining 2d and 3d animation to get better results, especially if you are not the best artist and want to try 2d.

I think there are ways around it by using 3d or CG type stuff but personally to do these awesome 2d things I think you need some skill in drawing.  You be the judge.

I really liked the intro this guy made.  It looks pretty good especially animated by one person.  I thought I’d share with you some of his video tutorials on how to make anime.  Again the process works in standard animation as well.

I’m going to throw this one in as well.  Animating with Adobe After FX.

I know a lot of you are overwhelmed with the idea of making a whole anime and truth is you’ll probably have to do it all by yourself.  You will not truly find artists to help you in your endeavor for the long haul.

But could you still make something cool to watch in a somewhat animated form?  Why yes!  Yes you can.

I have fun watching this guys videos of popular manga.  You could do something like this and it still be watchable as an anime.
